QFZA, Inventus Power Open a Regional Technology Center in Qatar

"Inventus Power" Company - a global US based leader in advanced battery technology & manufacturing - and "Qatar Free Zones Authority (QFZA)" inaugurated the companys technical center and manufacturing facility in Qatar Free Zones, with the aim to accelerate Inventus Powers international expansion, and to serve the European, Middle Eastern and African (EMEA) markets. The inauguration took place during a ceremony in the presence of HE Ahmad Al-Sayed, Minister of State and Chairman of QFZA at Ras Bufontas Free Zone, and also in the presence of Mr. Patrick Trippel, President & CEO of Inventus Power, as well as members of QFZA and Inventus Power Senior Management. The new Inventus Power facility in Qatar Free Zones, will be a critical component of Inventus Powers world-class global engineering and manufacturing platform for advanced battery and power systems. It will be fully integrated with the companys existing capabilities and global development efforts in order to accelerate market adoption of lithium-ion battery technology across the EMEA region. The facility's engineering hub, or Technical Center EMEA, will complement Inventus Powers existing Technical Centers in the US and China, while establishing itself as a center of excellence for the whole organization in digitalization, smart IoT batteries, energy storage systems (ESS) and lead-acid battery conversion. The site will also have full manufacturing capabilities to support the regions customer base, including support of local entities such as military, government, security as well as commercial opportunities. Qatar Free Zones are designed to provide investors with a global competitive advantage across various key sectors, in addition to providing a business-friendly environment and world-class services that contribute to enhancing the financial and operational performance of companies. NHRC Launches "Together We Work" Campaign

The National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) launched today "Together we work" campaign, as part of the implementation of the Committee's work strategy aimed at spreading and strengthening awareness at the national level of the need for cooperation to consolidate knowledge of workers' rights and duties and spread a culture of human rights in general. The campaign targets employers and workers residing in the State of Qatar, of both sexes, to make them aware of their rights guaranteed to them by the Constitution of the State of Qatar, affirmed by the Labor Law, and reinforced by international human rights conventions ratified by the State, especially in light of the legal amendments in Qatari legislation, which affirmed the protection of workers' rights. The Head of Public Relations and Media Unit at the National Human Rights Committee Abdullah Ali Al-Mahmoud, stressed the importance of this campaign as it targets an important segment of society that plays a major role in advancing the development process in the country. He said that the National Human Rights Committee attaches great importance to the issues of workers and employers alike, with the aim of consolidating human rights principles and translating them on the ground in various fields of work and contributing to overcoming obstacles that prevent all parties from enjoying full and undiminished rights. Al-Mahmoud pointed out that the campaign focuses on important axes, including all aspects related to workers and employers, which will be introduced and discussed by specialists.


Qatar's Cultural Heritage on Display Throughout FIFA Arab Cup

Throughout the FIFA Arab Cup 2021, fans were treated to a series of cultural activations that showcased Qatar's rich history and the diversity of its many communities organized by the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) and its partners, the activities formed a key part of the fan experience, which saw wide support for the 16 participating nations in tournament. Activities commenced before the tournament kicked off along Doha's iconic Corniche Street, which saw a number of performances, light shows and festivities taking place alongside the 11th annual Qatar International Food Festival (QIFF), a Qatar Tourism initiative that celebrates the country's diverse food, beverage and hospitality offerings. From Nov. 26 until Dec.3, more than 22 communities put on displays set against the city's breathtaking skyline. "The Arab Cup was an event that was embraced by a huge number of different communities across Qatar, and so it was the perfect opportunity to showcase Qatar's beautiful culture and the many other cultures that call Qatar their home throughout the tournament, spectators enjoyed musical performances and traditional dances up and down the country - from metro stations to stadium precincts, that diversity of cultures and the range of amazing performances for fans to enjoy was a truly special aspect of our tournament," said the SC's Stakeholder Relations Senior Manager Khaled Al Suwaidi. One of the key partners that delivered the wide array of activations throughout the FIFA Arab Cup was the Ministry of Culture, which put forth a series of cultural displays designed to highlight Qatar's heritage to spectators, many of whom were visiting the country to attend the tournament. "It was important for us to celebrate Qatari culture with our fellow Arabs at the tournament, and we look forward to sharing all the beautiful cultures of Qatar and this region when we host the World Cup in just under a year's time," said Director of Heritage and Identity Department at the Ministry of Culture, Sheikha Najla Al-Thani. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Says Engagement is Only Way Forward in Afghanistan

HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani warned against abandoning Afghanistan, stressing that isolation is not a solution, and that Engagement is the only way forward. His Excellency said in a joint press conference with HE Secretary of State of the United States of America Antony Blinken, in Washington that the priority of the State of Qatar is to ensure that humanitarian assistance reaches the Afghan people, especially with the approach of winter, adding that Qatar needs to make sure that facilitation of humanitarian assistance runs smoothly and urges and encourages the Taliban to live up to their commitments. His Excellency explained that the State of Qatar is in constant consultation with the United States, noting that the two countries agree on the importance of meeting the needs of the Afghan people, ensuring their safety and protecting them from violence. His Excellency pointed out that the State of Qatar places great emphasis on providing food supplies, medicines and health care services, and ensuring the continuity of schools in Afghanistan, adding that Qatar encourages the participation of international organizations in providing this aid, especially with the approach of winter. His Excellency added that Qatar and the US must also ensure that the right people are evacuated. The State of Qatar assumes this responsibility by supervising the conduct of checks on evacuees from a security point of view.


Deputy PM and Minister of Foreign Affairs: 4th Strategic Dialogue Between Qatar and US is a Milestone in Their Historical Partnership

HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani stressed that the 4th strategic dialogue between the State of Qatar and the United States of America represents another milestone in the strong historical partnership between the two countries. His Excellency pointed out that the flourishing relations between the two countries, which were enabled by the mutual commitments between HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, and HE President of the United States of America Joe Biden, are manifested not only in the scope of the cooperation, but also through the deep friendship between the two countries. His Excellency said, in a speech during the opening session of the 4th Qatar-US Strategic Dialogue, in the American capital, Washington, that the two countries are partners in defense, security, investments, education and energy, and are international leaders in the fight against terrorism, because the friendship between the two countries extends through decades. His Excellency went on saying that this year, the friendship between the two countries was further strengthened by the State of Qatar's evacuation efforts from Afghanistan, as Qatar worked closely with the United States and its international partners to evacuate more than 70,000 personnel from Afghanistan, including American citizens and students from all over Afghanistan and Afghan staff and their families, and journalists from around the world. His Excellency added, there is still a lot to do in Afghanistan, and the State of Qatar remains committed to continuing the necessary work, along with the United States and its partners around the world, and Qatar is committed to contribute to the stability of Afghanistan and the safety and well-being of the Afghan people. His Excellency indicated that the strategic dialogue will discuss issues of common interest, and will reaffirm Qatar determination to deepen cooperation between the two countries in various fields, including strengthening the defense and security partnership.His Excellency said that the economic partnership between the State of Qatar and the United States of America exceeds USD 200 billion in the fields of trade and investment, explaining that the State of Qatar has invested hundreds of billions of dollars in the American economy, which translates into providing tens of thousands of jobs throughout the United States. His Excellency pointed out that the State of Qatar plays an important role in helping countries meet their energy needs, as a leading producer of natural gas, with its firm belief in the importance of measures to reduce emissions, through its global investments in green innovations and technologies, along with Qatar's environmental strategy.


Qatar Calls for the Protection and Promotion of Human Rights and Upholding Rule of Law

The State of Qatar has called for constantly working to protect and promote human rights for all and uphold the rule of law, at the national, regional and international levels, and affirmed its constant condemnation of policies and procedures that increase exclusion, marginalization and deprivation at various levels. Qatar explained that avoiding conflicts and putting an end to them after their outbreak and ensuring the sustainability of peace after conflicts requires, above all, addressing the root factors that constitute a fertile environment for the outbreak and exacerbation of tensions, considering that exclusion, marginalization, discrimination and inequality are the causes of the outbreak of tensions. This came in the statement of the State of Qatar delivered by HE Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations Ambassador Sheikha Alia Ahmed bin Saif Al-Thani at the opening session of the UN Security Council Open Debate on "Maintaining international peace and security: Exclusion, inequality and conflict", which was chaired by HE President of the United Mexican States Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, whose country presided over the Council's work this month. In its statement, the State of Qatar stated that the mutual influence between peace, security, development and human rights is not a new concept, and it needs to be taken into consideration in the context of the efforts made by the United Nations to address current and emerging challenges, especially threats to peace and security. The statement added that dealing early with the root causes of conflicts not only spares the world many human tragedies, but also provides a huge amount of resources devoted to addressing the deteriorating humanitarian and economic conditions as a result of conflicts. The statement pointed out that the State of Qatar has made in the priority of its foreign policy to contribute to peace-making through the peaceful settlement of disputes, and is working in parallel to contribute to the advancement of economic and social development, human rights, women's empowerment and the rule of law at the local and international levels.

Qatar, WFP Sign Agreement to Support Food Security in Yemen

The State of Qatar signed an agreement with the World Food Program (WFP) to support food security and nutrition for the World Food Program response plan in Yemen at a value of $90 million. The signing of the agreement was witnessed by HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani who is also Chairman of the Qatar Fund for Development. The agreement was signed for Qatar by HE Director General of Qatar Fund for Development Khalifa bin Jassim Al Kuwari and for the World Food Program by the WFP Executive Director David Beasley. The 12-month agreement, which will benefit 7,621,932 people, includes general food assistance, provision of food for children, pregnant and lactating women, provision of health and nutrition counseling with the aim of educating the community on positive food behaviors, and the provision of "humanitarian air service" to transport volunteers and staff internationally and within Yemen.


Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs witnesses the signing of two agreements between the Qatar Fund for Development and UNRWA

HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani met today with HE the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, who is currently visiting the country. During the meeting, they reviewed the cooperation relations between the State of Qatar and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). Today, His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and President of the Qatar Fund for Development witnessed the signing of two agreements between the Fund and UNRWA to provide financial support with a total value of $25 million, including support for the activities of the United Nations over two years, in addition to support for Palestinian refugees in Syria in several sectors, within the framework of the / UNRWA / emergency appeal for the Syrian regional crisis for the year 2021. The two agreements were signed on the Qatari side by HE Mr. Khalifa bin Jassim Al-Kuwari, Director-General of the Qatar Fund for Development, while they were signed by HE Mr. Philip Lazzarini, Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Labor Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, on behalf of UNRWA. The first agreement provided for supporting UNRWA's core resources with an amount of US$ 18 million, with the aim of strengthening the agency's role in protecting the rights of Palestinian refugees. This agreement contributes to ensuring the agency's continuity.


Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Meets US Congress Delegation

HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani met Monday with a delegation of the United States Congress, led by HE Senator Chris Coons. The meeting reviewed the relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries and ways of enhancing them in light of the regional and international developments and challenges.
