Qatar - The winners of the 2023 Abdullah Bin Hamad Al-Attiyah International Energy Award have been revealed.

Doha, October 11th / QNA / The winners of the ninth edition of the Abdullah Bin Hamad Al-Attiyah International Energy Award were announced this evening. The award comprises six different categories in the energy industry sector, and it is considered one of the most prestigious and highest global awards in the sector.

Mr. Ahmed Saif Al Sulaiti, Deputy CEO for Operations at Qatar Energy, won the award in the Qatari Energy Industry Development category, in recognition of his lifetime achievements and contributions.

In the category of Natural Gas Industry Development, Professor Jonathan Stern, a Fellow at the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies, was awarded for his lifetime achievements in the field of natural gas industry development through his roles as a researcher and honorary professor at various global universities. Dr. Sally Benson, Professor of Energy Resources Engineering at Stanford University and Deputy Director of Energy Policy in the White House, was also awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award in the Future Energy Leaders in Energy Education category.

Professor Michael Grätzel, Director of the Federal Art Schools' Laboratory for Photonics in Lausanne, was selected in the category of Renewable Energy Industry Development. Richard Black, author, consultant, and former BBC Environment Correspondent, was chosen in the category of Energy Journalism Development.

Mr. James Mulva, former Chairman and CEO of ConocoPhillips, was chosen in the category of International Energy Policy and Diplomacy Development.

On this occasion, His Excellency Mr. Abdullah Bin Hamad Al-Attiyah, Chairman of the Abdullah Bin Hamad Al-Attiyah International Energy and Sustainable Development Foundation, praised the committee's efforts in selecting the candidates and congratulated the winners for deserving the international energy award in the announced categories.

The Abdullah Bin Hamad Al-Attiyah International Energy Award is presented annually to outstanding individuals. It recognizes their efforts and lifetime achievements in their professional careers in advancing the global energy sector. The award encompasses several different categories. An international selection committee votes to choose the winners of the award by evaluating the candidates' track record and lifetime achievements in the specified category, the impact they have made in their work in the energy sector, exceptional personal accomplishments, balanced and consistent performance over a long and extended professional career.
