This came in the statement of the State of Qatar delivered by Mr. Abdullah Khaled Al-Ghanim Al-Maadeed, Third Secretary at the Department of International Organizations, yesterday, before the Human Rights Council at its 49th session, during the general debate under item (10) of the council's agenda.
Al-Maadeed said that the many challenges facing the world today, especially those resulting from health epidemics, climate changes, and armed conflicts, showed that providing technical assistance and capacity-building to countries in the field of human rights, in accordance with their needs and priorities, and in consultation with them, is an important element to enable them to face these challenges, and fulfill its obligations to promote and protect human rights.
He stressed the importance of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and the international community continuing to provide the necessary support and technical assistance to Afghanistan at this delicate and difficult period in the country's history, in line with its needs and priorities to enable it to face challenges and difficulties, in particular with regard to human rights issues, improve economic and humanitarian conditions, and maintain On the achievements made by the Afghan people over the past decades, especially respecting women’s rights and girls’ education because of their essential role in achieving peace and development.
