"The remarkable success of Web Summit Qatar's first edition has cemented Qatar's position at the forefront of the region's technology and innovation landscape, and through our continued collaboration with stakeholders across Qatar's public and private sectors to prepare for the next edition, we are simultaneously shaping an integrated tech ecosystem that aligns with our nation's ambitious vision," said HE Sheikh Jassim.
"Our strong presence at Web Summit Lisbon 2024 reflects how this collaboration is creating a powerful cycle of innovation and growth," said HE Sheikh Jassim. "We are proud to be returning to Lisbon, spotlighting our emerging talent and industry leaders on the global stage." Qatar's engagements at Web Summit Lisbon include a pavilion showcasing the country's evolving tech landscape and attractive business environment while promoting the upcoming 2025 edition in Doha. This year's event in Lisbon is expected to draw 70,000 attendees, including 3,000 startups and 1,000 investors.
According to GCO, Several representatives from key local entities will speak at the event, including CEO at Invest Qatar, Sheikh Ali bin Alwaleed Al-Thani; CEO of Qatar Development Bank, Abdulrahman Al Suwaidi; and Head of Sector for Technology, Media & Telecommunications at Qatar Investment Authority, Mohammed Al Hardan. In addition, finalists of the Startup Qatar Investment Program, launched during Web Summit Qatar 2024 earlier this year, will be unveiled during the event. Selected startups will receive funding and strategic benefits.

Web Summit Qatar 2025 has already gained widespread demand for general attendee ticket sales, showing a fourfold increase compared to the same time last year. Startup program sales have grown by 500 percent, while country delegations are set to expand by 30 percent year-over-year, with participation confirmed by Germany, Hong Kong, India, Spain, Bahrain, Jordan, Oman, Turkey, Netherlands and Thailand, among others.
HE Jassim bin Mansour bin Jabor Al-Thani added: "With each passing year, each summit we host will strengthen our capabilities, expand our network and help shape our future editions. As we prepare for Web Summit Qatar 2025, we are leveraging these insights and connections, as well as our strategic position and advanced infrastructure, to deliver an even more impactful platform for global tech leaders and local innovators to network and connect." The inaugural Web Summit Qatar demonstrated unprecedented success, marking the largest gathering of international startups in a Web Summit debut, with over 15,000 attendees from 118 countries. Twenty-four Memoranda of Understanding were signed between leading Qatar-based and international entities during the event's four-day run. (QNA)
