His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, The Amir of the State of Qatar, crowned the Argentina national football team, the winner of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, by a penalty shootout, 4-2, in the final match that was held at Lusail Stadium this evening.

HH The Amir and HE Gianni Infantino, President of the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) handed over the gold medals to the Argentine national team players, and HH Emir Al-Moufdi, HE President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron, and HEGianni Infantino, the President of the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA)  handed the silver medals to the players. The players of the French national team and the runner-up of the tournament.

His Highness also handed over the best player trophy in the tournament to Argentine player Lionel Messi.

The final match and the coronation ceremony were attended by His Highness Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir's personal representative.

It was also attended by a number of their Majesties, Excellencies and Excellencies leaders, heads of state, heads of delegations of brotherly and friendly countries, Their Excellencies sheikhs and ministers, heads of Olympic committees and federations, Their Excellencies heads of diplomatic missions accredited to the State, senior sports officials and a large audience of fans.
