Capitals - QNA: The permanent delegation of the State of Qatar to the United Nations and the Consulate General of the State of Qatar in New York City, United States, held a ceremony on the occasion of the State's National Day.

The ceremony was attended by HE President of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly (Guest of Honor) Chaba Koroshi, a number of permanent delegates, ambassadors of Member States and senior officials of United Nations bodies.

Her Excellency Sheikha Alia Ahmed bin Saif Al Thani, Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the United Nations, along with His Excellency Mr. Mohammed bin Sultan Al Kuwari, Consul General of the State of Qatar in New York, received the audience, who represented a large crowd of diplomatic, political and media personalities.

In her speech at the ceremony, H.E Sheikha Alia Ahmed bin Saif Al Thani welcomed the attendees, and said: "On this day, we celebrate our history, our inclusiveness, our solidarity and our unity, and we celebrate the promise of the State of Qatar and the unlimited potential of our people and our country."

Her Excellency referred to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which is being held for the first time in the Middle East and the Arab region, and the welcome of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir of the country, “may God protect him,” at the opening ceremony of all those coming from all over the world to participate in the tournament. World Cup.

She stressed that the championship shed light on the generosity, spirit and enthusiasm of the Qatari people, and reminded the world that the State of Qatar promised in 2010 to leave a lasting legacy for the State of Qatar and the Middle East, and pointed out that Qatar has fulfilled this promise.

His Excellency Mr. Chaba Koroshi, President of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly, extended his congratulations to His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir of the country, may God protect him, and to the government and people of the State of Qatar on the occasion of the National Day.

In his speech at the ceremony, he expressed his happiness at celebrating the National Day of the State of Qatar, and said: “Not a long time ago when I served in the Arab Gulf region, and Qatar promised future developments. We realize that miracles do not always happen or come true, but with the State of Qatar the dream has become a reality  .

He added, "This country has turned into an active and vital member of the international community, as it played an important role in mediation and conflict resolution, and its role exceeded its regional borders," stressing that the State of Qatar "has turned into a model for finding solutions to become an advanced country in the region and move forward." in achieving the goals of sustainable development for the year 2030.

The celebration hall was not devoid of the appearances of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, as the screens displayed the atmosphere of the matches and put models of the stadiums, which added to the audience the joy of enjoying the National Day and the atmosphere of the World Cup.
