Doha, December 12 (QNA) - Private museums recorded a strong and distinguished presence in the twelfth edition of the Katara Traditional Bearing Festival, which is currently being held as part of the Katara activities accompanying the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
The contributions of private museums, whether Qatari or Gulf, were characterized by the evocation of all tools related to the marine heritage. Whether for the manufacture of ships, traditional bearings, marine guidance tools, or rafting tools, as well as pictures and information that illustrate this heritage.
Abdulaziz Al-Buhashim Al-Sayed, owner of a marine heritage museum, said in a statement to Qatar News Agency, QNA, that the museum presents a part of our history, and I tried to provide a large number of diving equipment, raft supplies and notebooks in which pearl accounts were recorded, which recorded the names of peacocks. For his part, Mr. Khaled Al-Badr, owner of the Maritime Heritage Museum, said that he is participating for the fourth time in the Al-Mahamel Festival, which this year is exceptional on the occasion of the World Cup, as he presents marine tools that were used in diving trips, including ancient marine guidance tools such as a compass and some collectibles that were used In Qalafa for the manufacture of sailing boats and some of the heritage boxes that were kept by the divers’ families, pointing out that the museum displays pictures from the history of Qatar from the buildings and ferns in the past, which currently do not exist, in addition to old pictures that show the interest of the Qatari people in sports, and therefore the festival of bearings is an opportunity to introduce our maritime heritage to the World Cup audience.
Mr. Muhammad Abdullah Sadiq, the owner of the Museum of Maritime Heritage, said in a similar statement to /QNA/ that he shared with us a set of Qatari maritime heritage tools, some tools of the old Qatari house, as well as some marine documents and geographical maps pertaining to the Gulf region, including the book of the streams of guidance: Al-Nayla, And a book about the weights of pearls.
Among the private museums participating in the Katara Festival of Traditional Bearings in its twelfth edition is the participation of the Museum of the late writer Jassim Abdul Rahman Al-Mannai, who is the author of a book on the Qatari maritime heritage. .
Mr. Muhammad Jassim Al-Mannai, the supervisor of the museum, explained that the museum includes everything related to marine life and presents it in a stereoscopic and illustrated form, as it shows professions related to diving, including, for example, the tawash (pearl merchant) and the travel captain, who travels on long-distance commercial cruises on large ships between The ports of the Gulf, Africa and Asia, and Al-Sukuni, who is the sailor in charge of the affairs of the ship’s helm, and his job is considered very important, and he must be characterized by complete vigilance in order to preserve the ship and the sailors. He brings water and provisions with his own ship to the sailors, pointing out that the museum provides clear and illustrated information about the types of oysters from Qatari Herat, the tools used by divers and the ship's crew and everything they need.
The museum also displays the traditional methods of fishing, the most prominent of which are the “Yarouf al-Musaddaq” (spinning nets), the gargoor, another means of fishing for fish, and it is in the form of a semi-circle made of horse fronds, and the “Al-Hadrah”, which is a means of catching fish of various kinds near the shallow waters and is made of Palm leaves are placed close to the shore and are linked with the tides for the ease of fisherman frequenting them at all times of the tide.
In turn, Mahmoud bin Abdullah bin Saif Al-Omrani, owner of the Oman Glories Museum, said, "I am participating for the fourth year in the Katara Festival of Traditional Bearings, within the Omani pavilion," explaining that this year the museum presents things related to ships in Qatar, navigational tools, tawash tools, pearl scales, and pictures. Ancient in the sea, and everything related to marine heritage in general.
As for the plastic artist Issa Al-Mulla, who is the owner of a private museum, he says: “I am participating for the fifth time in the Al-Mahamel Festival, and in this version I present a collection of artworks. It is more than 25 plastic paintings from the total holdings of more than 200 works of art, based on the recycling of discarded wood.” From the slings and boats, they are recycled into works of art, as well as works of art from the Sadu work for women, in addition to the production of works of art from the Qalafa tools that were specific to the manufacture of ships, in addition to reusing iron to present works of art that are compatible with the Katara Festival of traditional bearings.
