The Ministry of Labor, with the participation of the Ministry of Public Health and the Qatar Red Crescent, and in cooperation with the International Labor Organization, announced the launch of the joint awareness campaign "Occupational Safety and Health... Our Choice to Maintain a Safe Work Environment".
The campaign, which is ongoing before and during the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™, aims to raise awareness among employers and workers in workplaces and workers' accommodation.
During the campaign, the inspection teams will ensure that all occupational safety and health procedures and requirements are implemented at work sites and workers' accommodation, in addition to providing awareness and guidance to workers and employers before and during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
The campaign includes the publication of awareness and guidance materials and programs on the official pages on social media for the parties participating in the campaign, and training workshops will be organized for workers and employers at work sites and workers’ housing before and during the tournament, with the aim of introducing them to the most common inquiries, and educating workers on how to avoid the risks associated with work, to ensure their health and safety.
The launch of the joint awareness campaign comes within the framework of the State of Qatar's efforts to maintain a safe and secure work environment, and to raise awareness among employers and workers of the correct conditions that must be applied in work sites and workers' accommodation.
The Ministry of Labor, in cooperation with the parties participating in the campaign, will implement continuous inspection campaigns on work sites and workplaces to ensure compliance with the required requirements.
The campaign also targets the category of temporary workers that were recruited during the last period for the purposes of organizing the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, as the inspection teams will work periodically to ensure that the establishments comply with the necessary requirements in work sites and workers’ accommodation for temporary workers.
