Qatar renews its commitment to contribute to international efforts to achieve comprehensive and sustainable development

New York, October 04 (QNA) The State of Qatar has renewed its commitment to actively contribute to international efforts to achieve comprehensive and sustainable development, expressing its keenness to adopt an approach based on the protection and promotion of human rights for all segments of society without discrimination during its development path.

This came in the State of Qatar's statement delivered by Sheikha Al Maha bint Mubarak Al Thani, Third Secretary of the Permanent Mission of the State of Qatar to the United Nations, before the general discussions of the Third Committee of the United Nations General Assembly at its 77th session, on the item "social development".

She explained that the State of Qatar has taken many measures and measures at the legislative and executive levels that have contributed to achieving tangible results in all dimensions of social development without leaving anyone behind, in order to achieve the Qatar National Vision 2030.

She pointed in particular to the achievements made through the National Committee on Social Affairs. Women, children, the elderly and persons with disabilities affiliated with the Ministry of Social Development and the Family, which have contributed greatly to promoting integration in work and service within a unified and organized national framework among the concerned authorities in the country.

She expressed Qatar's aspiration to host the Fourth Disability Summit in 2028, in cooperation with the International Disability Alliance, stressing Qatar's full readiness to receive football fans in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, as it is the most accessible tournament for people with disabilities, in terms of ease of access. And movement in all facilities of the tournament, and digital content that takes into account their special needs.

She reiterated Qatar's keenness to place the youth category at the center of its development policies, pointing out that this category receives attention in the international development and humanitarian aid programs implemented by the State of Qatar in many countries of the world.
She indicated that the total support provided through the Qatar Fund for Development to the education sector amounted during the past decade to about $980 million, benefiting millions of young people and children in 65 countries around the world.
She noted the pioneering role played by the State of Qatar in preparing for the Education Transformation Summit held by the Secretary-General on September 19, whether by holding national consultations on education transformation, or by hosting the preparatory regional consultations for the Arab region and West Asia.

She expressed Qatar's pride in that the summit program included the launch of two important initiatives, including as a contribution to the efforts made to transform education, namely the "Rasekh initiative" launched by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in the State of Qatar, related to "localizing education for a sustainable future", and the initiative of the Foundation Education Above All in collaboration with the World Bank, the Global Partnership for Education and Sierra Leone on Innovative Financing Mechanisms for Education.

She explained that through the experience of the State of Qatar, the importance of adopting family-oriented social and economic policies was emphasized, given their great contribution to achieving comprehensive, feasible and sustainable social development.
She expressed Qatar's aspiration to host the international conference to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the International Year of the Family in the year 2024.
