The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority updates the frequency spectrum plan for the World Cup

Doha, June 29 (QNA) The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority announced the issuance of an updated version of the frequency spectrum plan for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which includes detailed information added to the basic plan that was published by the Authority on November 21, 2020, in accordance with the requirements of the International Federation. FIFA, which requires that the host country’s spectrum management authority publish and update, as appropriate, the spectrum plan for the World Cup.l

The spectrum plan for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 tournament contributes to ensuring the orderly use of the frequency spectrum in the State of Qatar, and to achieving the desired success of the event before and during its hosting.

The authority stated that the second version of the plan includes some in-depth updates to the frequency plans for the wireless systems and applications expected to be used during the period of hosting the World Cup in Qatar. The updated plan also refers to the new available frequency bands or modern wireless technologies that will be published or used for the first time in this World Cup version.

This new version comes after the success of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority in managing the frequency spectrum plan during the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2021, and the experience that the authority gained through its dealings with all stakeholders from various sectors, which were seeking to obtain the frequency spectrum for their systems and applications during the tournament.

The Spectrum Plan for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, in its new version, also includes a comprehensive update of the appendix for processing requests through the Spectrum Services Portal, which was recently developed and updated by the Authority.

The updated appendix provides a detailed explanation of how to use the TRA event portal, the steps to be followed to submit requests and requirements related to the frequency spectrum, in addition to clarifying how to schedule test dates and marking, and track and download frequency permits and licenses.
