741 electric buses to serve visitors to Qatar and the World Cup public

The ministry of communications announced today that Port Hamad received the last batch of 130 electric buses, completing the supply of all electric buses with 741 electric buses. The ministry explained in a statement on its website that electric buses will be fully operated by the Kroh transport company as part of public transport to serve transport operations during the FIFA Qatar world cup 2022, and to become a lasting legacy of mass transportation of clean energy after the tournament. This step will strengthen Qatar’s position as a leader in clean energy mass transport, to be with the world's first countries with an integrated electric bus system, as well as to enhance the legacy value of the FIFA Qatar 2022 world cup bus system to achieve a positive legacy, clearly demonstrating Qatar’s commitment to clean energy solutions for transportation in the world, and supporting the direction of hosting an exceptional, environmentally friendly and "carbon neutral" world cup. The move is also part of supporting the implementation of the ministry's transformation strategy action plan for electric vehicles in cooperation with stakeholders, and with the completion of the arrival of electric buses, this strategy will transform 25% of the 2022 FIFA Qatar World Cup bus fleet into electric buses. During the current year 2022, the electric bus will be used for metro link services, in addition to public transport routes that will operate mainly in Doha, as well as in Lucille and Al Khor. These buses will operate more than 200 technical and administrative staff and more than 3,000 drivers. Kroh transport has already begun operating electric buses on public transport routes, and route 76 is currently fully operational, in addition to all alternative transport services for the golden line and the doha metro red line using electric buses. After the tournament in 2023 and beyond, electric buses will operate 44 metro link services and 48 public transport tracks.
