The State of Qatar calls for resolution of Ukraine crisis by diplomatic means

The state of Qatar has urged all parties to exercise restraint, avoid further escalation and commit to peaceful and diplomatic ways to resolve disputes and disputes between Russia and Ukraine, expressing grave concern about the developments in Ukraine and its humanitarian implications as well as the serious repercussions of the accelerated escalation of peace and security. This was State of Qatar’s statement made by his Excellency Sheikha Alia Ahmed Bin Saif Al-Thani, Qatar’s permanent representative to the United Nations, at the emergency special session of the UN general assembly on the "situation in Ukraine". "In the past few days, the world has once again witnessed the scourge and pain of armed violence," the statement said. "The state of Qatar is following with great concern the developments in Ukraine and its humanitarian implications as well as the serious repercussions of the rapid escalation of international peace and security, as well as on the economy and food security around the world." The statement stressed that the principles of Qatar’s foreign policy are based on adherence to the purposes, principles and provisions of the charter, including article ii provisions on the peaceful resolution of international disputes, and refraining from threatening or using force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state. In this sense, the state of Qatar has affirmed respect for Ukraine’s sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders. According to the statement, the State of Qatar is convinced that the way to resolve the current crisis and meet the legitimate concerns of all parties is constructive dialogue in a consensual spirit based on the principles of international law and the charter of the united nations, the implementation of existing agreements, comprehensive and sustainable solutions, and ensuring that the legitimate concerns of all parties are met.  At the end of its statement, the State of Qatar called on all parties to comply with their obligations under international law, international human rights law and international humanitarian law, facilitate rapid, safe and unhindered access to humanitarian assistance to those in need and protect civilians, civilian facilities and medical and humanitarian workers. she also stressed the need to keep the humanitarian situation of those affected by violence, displaced persons and refugees as a top priority, and to provide the necessary assistance while adhering to international humanitarian principles.
