H H the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani attended this evening the opening ceremony of the 24th Winter Olympics under the slogan "Together for a Common Future" at the National Stadium "Bird's Nest" in the capital, Beijing, People's Republic of China.

The opening was attended by a number of Their Excellencies members of the official delegation accompanying His Highness the Amir.

The proceedings of the opening ceremony began with a visual display of artistic and lyrical exhibition boards, with the flags of the participating countries entering the center of a fireworks display.
