As an extension of its commitment to stand with friendly and brotherly countries affected by the Corona epidemic and to secure medical relief supplies to confront the repercussions of the virus, and to provide health support to peoples in the affected countries, the State of Qatar continues its usual humanitarian support and extending a helping hand since the beginning of the pandemic, committed to the principle of the necessity of equitable access to Covid-19 vaccines for all peoples without exception. As part of its continuous efforts to secure access to vaccines, treatments and diagnostic tools for all people around the world, the State of Qatar, represented by the Qatar Fund for Development, provided financial support yesterday, including an aid package to support the Republic of the Philippines, with the aim of providing 50,000 doses of the Sinovac anti-Coronavirus vaccine. His Excellency Mr. Khalifa bin Jassim al-Kuwari, Director-General of the Qatar Fund for Development, said that this support is an affirmation of the effective role of the State of Qatar and its efforts to combat the outbreak of the epidemic, which represents a common threat facing the whole world, and based on the common international responsibility. Proceeding from its moral and humanitarian commitment to the necessity of equitable management of Covid-19 vaccines around the world, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, called on, during the Qatar Economic Forum last year, world leaders to cooperate for a just and comprehensive distribution of vaccines. This platform invites the leaders of the world's countries, especially the major industrialized countries, for more cooperation within the framework of the international system, sharing responsibilities, and working together for a just and comprehensive distribution of the vaccine in a way that establishes for us to build an integrated global social and economic system, in line with the goals of sustainable global development, and achieves good and stability for our peoples.” Earlier, the State of Qatar allocated a contribution of a total of $20 million to the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization, which aims to reach the vaccine in a fair and equal manner to more than 92 countries in need of development assistance.
