The International Center for Sports Security - based in Doha - praised the State of Qatar's exceptional preparations in the areas of security and safety, days before the start of the 22nd edition of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

The center said in a statement issued today: "Qatar has spared no effort in laying solid foundations for international cooperation to ensure the safety and security of all participants in the World Cup, including teams, fans and visitors, in the upcoming historic edition.

Mr. Mohammed bin Hanzab, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the International Center for Sports Security, said that with the launch of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 approaching in a few days, the center is proud of Qatar's readiness and willingness to welcome the world and organize a unique version of the tournament that is expected to be successful at all levels, especially level of public safety and security.

Bin Hanzab praised the efforts of the Ministry of Interior, noting that the ministry made a great effort and provided security equipment at the highest level, as well as the Qatar World Cup Security Committee and the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy.

He added that the International Center for Sports Security provided all means of professional support since the early days when Qatar was granted the right to host the World Cup in December 2010, to become the first country in the Arab world and the Middle East to host the World Cup, stressing that Qatar succeeded in harnessing expertise in the field of security as one It is one of the countries with the lowest crime rates in the world, and at the same time, it adopts the best international practices at all levels, especially those adopted by countries that hosted major sporting events in the past.

He expressed his pride that the State of Qatar has become - through the International Center for Sports Security - an international reference in the field of safety, sports security and integrity in sports.

For his part, Mr. Massimiliano Montanari, CEO of the International Center for Sports Security, said that the International Center is confident that Qatar will provide a safe tournament for all participants, thanks to the tireless efforts of officials and organizers over the years of preparations.

For his part, Mr. Stephen Fleming, Director of Security for Major Sporting Events at the International Center for Sports Security, added that since its establishment in 2010, the Center for International Sports Security has provided all aspects of support to sports bodies, local organizing committees, and sports organizations and federations at the international, national and local levels in all matters. related to the design of stadiums and the development of organizational aspects, operational planning, training and education.

He continued, "We set safety and security standards and related principles for the FIFA World Cup and conducted threat and risk assessments for international tournaments in partnership with the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism, and in partnership with the United Nations Regional Institute for Crime and Justice Research and the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations.

He added that the center, since 2013, has been a major consultant and provider of technical assistance to the Supreme Committee, Projects and Legacy regarding safety and security for the 2022 World Cup stadiums. In the Ministry of the Interior, managers and coordinators of safety and security of stadiums, security officers, supervisors, private security and volunteers, these projects also cover transportation, hotels, training sites, the international broadcasting center, the main operations center and fan festivals.

He added that the International Center for Sports Security was commissioned by the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy to conduct observations and assessments of safety and security in a number of stadiums, in order to identify and support good practices and report on areas in which improvements can be made at all levels related to the tournament.
