The praises of the great preparations revealed by the State of Qatar to organize the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 continue, amid almost complete consensus that the world will be on a date with an “exceptional and unique” World Cup that will be held for the first time in an Arab and Middle Eastern country.
A large number of media professionals and international officials also saw that the malicious campaigns that the State of Qatar has been subjected to since it won the honor of organizing the World Cup did not discourage it from moving forward in preparing to organize the tournament and make it a success, noting that these campaigns were originally built on wrong and unjustified foundations.
In this context, the German newspaper, Der Tagesspiegel, published a report under the title “The West ignores the culture of Qatar, host of the 2022 World Cup,” in which it pointed out that “ignorance of the reality of the situation in Qatar, the volume of fabricated news circulated by the media about it, and the campaign of defamation of the residents of this country.” The country and its government have turned into a ferocious campaign that has trampled on facts.”
The report quoted Mr. Dietmar Schiffers, Vice-President of the World Federation of Construction Trade Unions (BDI), saying that Qataris "have pledged since 2008 to work to improve the conditions of foreign workers in Qatar", and that they have succeeded in achieving tangible progress in this field... adding “Although there are some shortcomings, the standards of working conditions and health protection in Qatar are similar to the standards in force in both Germany and the United States of America.”
The report, prepared by Jürgen Hogravy, a member of the Executive Committee of the German Arab Chamber of Commerce and a former correspondent for Der Spiegel magazine in the Middle East, added that the beginning was with a report by the British newspaper The Guardian, which claimed that more than 6,500 workers had died in Qatar since it was granted the right to host the World Cup. Then the German media spoke of “the death of thousands of workers in the World Cup workshops in Qatar,” and the NGOs concerned quickly jumped on this topic.
The report indicated that there is no conclusive evidence of the correctness of the information circulated about the number of deaths in the World Cup workshops, which is recognized by Amnesty International itself.
The newspaper concluded by saying that the State of Qatar has overcome all the obstacles that were put in its way in the past and won the right to host the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, and has also ignored all the malicious smear campaigns that it has been subjected to, and is on its way now to organize an exceptional version of the World Cup, in a few days.
On the other hand, Robert Shaterjee, writer and expert on Middle East affairs in the German magazine "Zenit", said that Qatar has gained a reputation and trust at the international level, "and no one can, after today, underestimate the status of the State of Qatar and its important role in the international arena."
On the other hand, Euro News TV highlighted, in a report, the human resources provided by the State of Qatar, in order to organize and cover the global sporting event that is being held for the first time in an Arab country.
In its report, the television focused on the issue of volunteers in the World Cup, saying that "talking about human resources leads us to talk about volunteers, who numbered twenty thousand volunteers, who will be at the heart of the event in order to make the upcoming football wedding a success."
The report, which was included within the Qatar 635 program, stated that "Qatar launched the World Cup Volunteers Program last March, with the aim of recruiting twenty thousand volunteers who will support 45 job fields and perform more than thirty different roles in the eight stadiums that will host the World Cup matches." The Volunteers Program for the World Cup achieved a record number of 420,000 applicants from 209 nationalities.
The report indicated that the volunteers received training in a center that includes classrooms and trainers who teach up to 750 volunteers daily, pointing out that the last stage before the start of the World Cup included special training in sites that will witness a large movement such as stadiums, fans areas and the media center.
He added, "A few days before the start of the World Cup, some residents of Qatar hope to participate in the event, by leaving their own mark, and these people have used their own workplaces to perform their role in the World Cup, such as the confectioner (VJ) who is working on making a model. For Lusail Stadium of chocolate weighing 35 kilograms.
For its part, the Iranian Mehr Agency published a video report, in which it affirmed that the State of Qatar has always had the desire to make history for itself, and that future generations will consider organizing the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 an important achievement to be proud of when they talk about the past.
The report, titled: "Get to know Qatar, the host country for the 2022 World Cup," added that "in a country whose people frequently talk about memories of the past and its future aspirations, and its museums display artworks from other countries, there is always a desire to make history." That Qatar always seeks to "write its name in bold all over the world", and now it is writing it by hosting the most important football event in the world, which is clear evidence of the endless ambitions of the State of Qatar.
For his part, Muhammad Tahir Mahmud Ashrafi, Special Representative of the Prime Minister of Pakistan in the Middle East and Chairman of the Pakistan Scholars Council, said that "criticisms directed at Qatar over its hosting of the FIFA World Cup are unjustified."
In an interview with the Pakistan News Agency, he added, "It is a matter of pride for the Arab and Islamic worlds that the host country of the World Cup is an Islamic country," indicating Pakistan's readiness to provide all kinds of support to the State of Qatar.
